Gold
Swimmers with limited competitive experience who are able to swim 50 meters of two strokes to be determined by the Coaching staff.
Ages
:
Generally 8 years, plus or minus one year. Younger swimmers that are able to take instruction and training will be accepted into the group, but only after evaluation of strokes.
Training Time per Week
:
4 sessions - 45 minutes each
Training Volume per Session
:
750 – 2000 meters
Training Objectives
:
Technique in all strokes
Racing skills, starts, turns, and pace
Aerobic endurance
Sculling drills
Speed at 25 – 50 meters
Simple training sets and games
Motor Learning Objectives
:
Develop a feel for the water, the ability to make corrections in movement patterns
Learn the technical skills of all four strokes
Develop general body coordination and strength
Learn good habits for maintaining and improving natural flexibility
Learn to maintain correct technique on longer (sub maximal) swims
Learn to maintain correct technique on short sprints
Knowledge and Attitudes
:
Enjoyment of pool and land based activities
Learn to function as an individual within a group activity
Become familiar with rules and competitive situations
Learn about stroke technique and training methods
Competitive Objectives
:
Have fun and learn to participate without anxiety of distraction
Personal improvement (in both performance and skill) and enjoyment of the competitive experience
Compete with legal stroke technique in all four competitive strokes and IM
Jr. Varsity
Swimmers skilled in the four competitive strokes and ready to train at a higher level. This group works on refining competitive stroke techniques with the goal of progressing to higher levels of competition.
Ages
:
Generally 10 years, plus or minus 2 years.
Varsity
Swimmers handle more intense training and develop the endurance necessary to compete at the higher levels of EFSL. Swimmers, in this group, must show dedication to their sport and team.
Ages:
Generally 12 years, plus or minus 2 years.
Sr. Varsity
The highest training group. Swimmers must show the highest level of dedication to their sport.
Ages:
Generally 14 - 15 years, plus or minus 2 years.
